Koert R. Seehusen, 91, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in Grundy Center, Iowa, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice.
Koert Rieke Seehusen was born June 27, 1917, in rural Dike, Iowa, the son of Rieke and Etta (Miller) Seehusen. He attended country school Beaver Township No. 8 rural Dike. On December 5, 1942, Koert was united in marriage to Roszella Andreesen in Biloxi, MS He joined the U.S. Army serving his country during World War II for 3 1/2 years stationed in Italy and was awarded the Bronze Star.
After his discharge from the service they farmed east of Grundy Center. After farming they moved to Holland, Iowa and Koert did custom feed grinding and owned the Holland Grocery Store. He later went to work for Clay Mfg. in Cedar Falls, Iowa retiring from there in 1981.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Koert is survived by his children; Rosie (Kenneth) Luhring of Parkersburg, Jean (Danny) Rhoads of Grundy Center; Bryon Seehusen of Reinbeck, Janice (Doug) Kiel of Fayette, IA, K. Allen Seehusen of Grundy Center, Roger (Sherry) Seehusen of Wellsburg, Randall (Donna) Seehusen, Beverly (Larry) Appel both of Grundy Center; 11 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren and 3 step grandsons; two sisters, Grace and Reka; one brother, Jake.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; two brothers, George and John; sister, Etta and an infant daughter.
