Kenneth H. Morris, Jr. was born July 22, 1948 in Fort Myers, Florida to his parents Hazel and Kenneth H. Morris, Sr. He graduated from Lakeland Senior High School in 1967. Kenneth was one of many young men who bravely served his country during the Vietnam War. He was proud to tell people that he was a complete Vietnam era soldier. Kenneth served in the United States Army for 14 years. He served as a medic and was stationed in Japan, Germany and the states during that time. He was united in marriage to his wife Barbara on July 26, 1969 and they welcomed three daughters into their family.
After his honorable discharge from the army he went on to serve his fellow veterans as a medical nurse at the VA Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Kenneth worked as a medic and nurse for over 30 years and retired in 2000.
During a visit to his daughter Melissa’s home in Steamboat Rock, Iowa, in 2001, he fell in love with the area and vowed never to go back to Florida. He told his wife he had found his “Willoughby” or the town he wanted to spend the rest of his life. He and Barbara relocated to Steamboat Rock and lived there until August of 2009 when they then moved to Eldora.
Kenneth and his wife were active in a civilian police academy in Lakeland Florida. He was a member of the NRA. Kenneth enjoyed making walking sticks, camping, hiking, canoeing and all outdoor activities in general.
