Kenneth Lowell Krukow, 88 of Ackley, formerly of Eldora, passed away on October 18th at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 22nd at 2:00 PM at the Liscomb Church of Christ with Pastor Ralph Norman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Immediately following the funeral, a committal service will be held at the Liscomb Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be directed to the family. The Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is caring for Kenneth and his family.
Kenneth was born on July 3, 1928 in Franklin County, Iowa, the son of Fredrick & Helen (Huffman) Krukow. He grew up in Aredale, Iowa where he attended country school, later graduating from Hansell High School with the class of 1946. After graduation, Kenneth honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953, during the Korean Conflict. On June 5, 1955, Kenneth was united in marriage to Doris Taylor in Minburn, Iowa. The couple welcomed 4 children into their family. Kenneth worked as a farmer and farmed near Aredale. He also worked for Dekalb-Pfizer in Eldora for 13 years and he was the custodian for the Eldora Training School for 10 years, retiring in November of 1994.
He was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder and sung in the church choir, he was active in the Eldora Kiwanis and volunteered at the Turn-About Shop. Kenneth enjoyed baking caramel corn and banana bread, gardening, was an avid baseball fan in which he was a big Cubs fan. What brought the most joy to Kenneth was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kenneth is survived by his children Suzanne (Leo) Guevara of Ackley, IA, Maribeth Krukow of Carollton, TX and Steve Krukow of Ackley, IA; grandchildren Heather (Jason Johnson) Johnson, Amanda (Chuy) Flores and Todd Krukow; great-grandchildren Chelsea, Gavin & Killian Erickson and Madden & Makinlea Johnson and Giana & Giselle Flores; great-great grandchild Easton Erickson; 3 step-grandchildren Yuri, Eric & Olga Guevara; 7 step great-grandchildren; brothers Don, Carl (Pauline), Frank (Yvonne) and Harley (Linda) Krukow; brother-in-law Wayne Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Doris; son James Krukow; grandson Shane Krukow; sisters Arlene Thompson and Lola Leer.
