Karen C. Crandall, 89, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Thursday, December 14, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 19 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora with Pastor Corey Larson officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to funeral services. Memorials may be directed to the Church.
Karen was born November 28, 1917 in Hampton, Iowa, daughter of Albert and Anna (Simonsen) Carlsen. She attended the Hampton School System and on September 4, 1934 was united in marriage to Gerald W. Crandall. Karen and Gerald moved to Eldora in 1946. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora where she was involved in the Women's Fellowship and she was a former member of the Hampton First Congregational United Church of Christ. When Karen's health still permitted she enjoyed traveling and doing needle work.
She is survived by her sons, Chuck Crandall and his wife Leone of Eldora and Bill Crandall and his wife Betty of Algona; and by 6 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her parents; her husband, Gerald on March 22, 1977; sister, Hazel Endriss; brothers Albert and Roy Carlsen; and great-grandson, Zach Purrell.
