Judy C. Sager, 71, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016 at UnityPoint Health- Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Judy was born on May 30, 1945 in Marshalltown, Iowa to her parents Gale and Edna (Boss) Mast. She was raised in Grundy Center and graduated from Grundy Center High School in the class of 1963. Judy was united in marriage to William H. Sager on March 5, 1965 at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, Iowa. Together they welcomed four children into their family. Judy worked as a Nurse's Aide for 5 years at the Grundy Care Center and 13 years at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care Unit retiring in 2003.
Judy was a long-time member of Saint John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck; there she served the church for many years as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed canning food for her family. Her true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her husband Bill of Grundy Center; her children Pamela C. (Bill) Jones of Dike, Iowa, William H. (Cathy) Sager, Jr. of Flint Michigan, John R. Sager of Grundy Center, Iowa and Nelson D.L. (Amanda) Sager of Grundy Center, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; brothers Darl Mast of Manhattan, Kansas and Leon Mast of New Berlin, Wisconsin; sister Jane (Tom) Blohm of Reinbeck, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
