Joyce L. Robertson, 81, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at her home in Grundy Center. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial may be directed to the family.
Joyce was born on December 19, 1934 in Grundy County, Iowa to her parents Richard and Dena (Sealman) Kiewiet. She graduated from Grundy Center High School in the class of 1953. She was united in marriage to Dean Robertson on November 9, 1953. They made their home in Grundy Center and welcomed two children into their family. Joyce worked part time as a clerk at Manly Drug Store & As You Like It Gift Shop in Grundy Center from 1961-1980; this was to assure that she could attend any and all events of her children. She worked as an assistant at Hope Clinic from 1980 until 1985 and was a clerk at the Grundy Style Shop in Grundy Center. She most recently worked as a waitress at Park Place in Grundy Center, retiring in 2012.
Joyce was a member of the United Methodist Church in Grundy. She enjoyed participating in devotions and bible study. She enjoyed games especially game apps on her tablet. Joyce was very proud to be an independent woman. Joyce revolved her life around her family, other than a quick $20.00 limit at the Isle Casino; her greatest pleasure in life was to visit her kids and grandkids. She loved supporting them by attending their activities and sporting events. The daily calls from Randy and Laura truly made her day.
Joyce is survived by her children Randall (Linda) Robertson of Iowa City, Iowa and Laura (Mike) Allen of Oskaloosa, Iowa; grandchildren, Nathan (Suzie) Allen, Jenah Harris, Christopher (Kelly) Robertson, Derrick Robertson, Bryant (Nikki) Robertson, Chelsey Robertson, Jori Robertson and great-grandchildren Brianna Harris-Jones and Micah Robertson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dean, sister Wilma Wolthoff and brother Don Kiewiet.
