Joyce Arlene Hoffman

Joyce Arlene Hoffman passed away July 22, 2023, in Cape Coral Florida. She was 82 years old.

Celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11 AM at Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Memorials can be made to the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Joyce was born on April 6, 1941, in Perry, Iowa and graduated from Ogden High School. She was married to Gerald Hoffman on August 2, 1959. Gerald and Joyce had 4 children – Brenda, Brian, David & Chris.

They made their homes in Lanyon, Ottosen, and Grundy Center, Iowa. Joyce was a homemaker until her kids graduated from high school. She worked at the Spokesman Press as a proof-reader and at Community Title in Grundy Center. After she retired, Joyce enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her kids and grandchildren. In October of 2018 she moved to North Fort Myers, Florida to be close to her daughter, Chris. She made many new friends and loved the warm weather.

Joyce is survived by her daughters Brenda & husband Tom Heinz and Chris & husband Darrell Abels, daughter-in-law Beth Hoffman, 9 Grandchildren, 11 & 5/6th Great-Grandchildren, a brother Royce Rinehart & wife Teddie, brother-in-law Keith Hoffman & wife Joyce, and sister-in-law Elaine Shelton & husband Denny. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald and sons Brian & David.
