Jeannette Baker, 90, of Eldora, Iowa, died from natural causes on Monday, March 28, 2005 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, March 31, at the First Baptist Church of Eldora with Pastor Michael Baltich officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Eldora.
Jeannette was born October 13, 1914, in rural Eldora, daughter of Hibbard "Bert" and Besse (Cobb) Moore. She was educated in the Steamboat Rock School System and on December 23, 1933 was united in marriage to Wilbur K. Baker in Hampton, Iowa. They lived and farmed in Hardin and Grundy Counties and in the late 1960s moved into Eldora. Jeannette had also worked several years during the 1960s at the State Training School for Boys in Eldora. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eldora where she attended most of her life.
Surviving are her children, Mervin (Helen) Baker of Grundy Center, Joylyn Stoehr of Eldora, David (Rena) Baker of Ames, Alice (Jerry) Crowley of Kansas City, and Linda (Ed) Farkas of Milwaukee; sister, Betty (Bud) Buffington of Marshalltown; and 11 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Preceding her in death was her husband, Wilbur on October 22, 1984; sister, Maxine Tricky; and brother, Hibbard Moore.
