Jeanne A. Mennenga

Jeanne A. Mennenga, 95 of Gladbrook passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, Iowa with her son, granddaughter and great granddaughter at her side. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Abels Funeral and Cremation – French Hand Chapel in Reinbeck, Iowa. Funeral service will follow at 1:30pm. Jeanne will be laid to rest at the Reinbeck City Cemetery.

She was born December 18, 1927, to Farrell and Faye (Stewart) Osborn. Jeanne attended and graduated from Beaman High School. On October 4, 1948, Jeanne married Henry Mennenga in Reinbeck, Iowa. They made their home on a farm in the Gladbrook area, later moving to Conrad, Iowa. She worked for Oakview Nursing home, retiring after 30 plus years.

Jeanne was a lifetime member of the Auxiliary, and lifetime member of the DAR (Daughter of American Revolution) and member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Gladbrook, Iowa.

She enjoyed traveling, needle point, sewing, word searches and later in life was known for documenting her daily activities in her journal. Jeanne loved watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, even if it was from 10 years ago.

Jeanne is survived by her son Marshall (Peggy) Mennenga, daughter Marilyn (Chuck) Aldrich, grandchildren; Shawn (Christie) Mennenga, Chad Aldrich, Dawn Aldrich, Michelle (Carl) Ray, April Brubaker, Shane (Julie) Aldrich, Shannon (Mike) Wright, Jeremy Aldrich, great grandchildren; Garrett (Laura) Mennenga, Ashley (Ryan) Acks, Antanette, Christian, and Emily Ray, Sasha and Gracey Nagle, Krystal Brubaker, Austin Moore, Ethan, Adian, Abby, and Iasiah Aldrich, sister; Mary Cecak, three sister in laws; Janet (Bud) Brubaker, Laura Osborn, and Delores Mennenga.   

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Mennenga, son Michael, her parents, brothers Ed, Bob, Jack, and sister Alice.

The family extends a heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at Westbrook Acres for their loving and compassionate care.
