Jean Klosterboer

Jean L. Klosterboer, 94, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown, Iowa. Services and burial will be held privately by the family. There will be no visitation at this time, however, in lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.

Jean was born on January 10, 1928, to her parents George and Mabel Meyers. Jean was raised in Grundy Center and graduated from Grundy Center High School. She was united in marriage to Harlan “Red” Klosterboer on October 12, 1950. Together they made their home in Grundy Center and welcomed two children into their family. Harlan and Jean enjoyed 72 wonderful years of marriage together.

Jean was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. Jean also enjoyed walking and riding her bike. She was a member of the Catholic Church in Grundy Center and later St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Jean worked at Collectors News and the Spokesman Press, along with running a DX gas station with Harlan.

Those left behind to cherish Jean’s memory are her children Vicki (Rick) Leaton of Marshalltown, Iowa and Vince (Rhonda) Klosterboer of Williamsburg, Iowa; grandchildren Megan (Josh) Johnson, Matt Modlin, Jared (Lauren) Klosterboer, Tyler Klosterboer, Brent Klosterboer, and Brad Klosterboer; and great-grandchildren Ava, Isabelle, Hanna, Vincent, and Charlie; step grandchildren David Leaton and Beth Leaton. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Harlan; infant brothers Bobbie Rae and Howard; brother Jack Meyers; and sister-in-law Myrna Meyers.
