Janice Van Hauen, 56, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Pastor Michael Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2009, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. A memorial fund has been established.
Janice was born March14, 1953, in Waterloo, the daughter of Albert and Vivian (Hulme) Lorenz. Janice attended school in Reinbeck graduating from Reinbeck High School in 1972. After graduating from high school she attended and graduated from Hawkeye Tech. Janice then went to work at Parkview Manor where she worked as a CNA for over 20 years, but due to health reasons she could not work there any longer. She liked to play cards, listen to country music, cook and gardening. Janice had a large Teddy Bear collection and also a Bell collection that included a bell from each state. She loved spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren.
Janice is survived by her children; Shane (Laurie) Van Hauen of Reinbeck, Chris (Jamie) Van Hauen of Dysart, Kim Van Hauen of Reinbeck; father, Albert Lorenz of Reinbeck, mother; Vivian (John) Claussen of Hudson, Iowa; brothers, Gary Lorenz of Reinbeck, Mike Claussen of Washburn, Iowa, Clayton Claussen of Iowa City, Iowa; sisters, Cheryl Neil of Denver, Iowa, Susan Parham of Marion, Iowa; three grandchildren, Michael and Matthew of Reinbeck and Megan of Dysart.
Janice was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Lorenz; grandparents and special friend, Dan Kelly
