Janet W. Williams, 88, of Wellsburg, Iowa, died Saturday, February 26, 2005, at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora, Iowa, of natural causes. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at First Christian Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg, Iowa, with Pastor Tom Vos officiating. Burial will follow at First Christian Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Wellsburg. Visitation will be Monday, February 28, 2005, from 5:00 P. M. to 8:00 P.M. at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg. Visitation will also be Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. The family will be present on Monday evening at the funeral home to greet friends. A memorial fund has been established.
Janet was born November 27, 1916, at home in rural Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of Will and Ada (Ruter) Janssen. Janet attended Wellsburg High School and graduated in 1933. On September 25, 1935, Janet was united in marriage to Will Williams at the First Christian Reformed Church Parsonage in rural Wellsburg, Iowa. After their marriage, they farmed in rural Grundy County, Iowa. Janet?s husband Will died in 1957, and she continued living on the farm. In 1980, Janet moved to Wellsburg, living there until May 2001, when she moved to Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora, Iowa.
Janet was an active lifelong member of First Christian Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg, where she was involved in Queen Esther?s Circle, the Ladies Guild, and the Life Group. She loved flowers and gardening.
She is survived by two daughters Wilma Peters and her husband Marlyn of Eldora, Iowa; Elaine Kosanke and her husband Myron of Eldora, Iowa; four grandchildren and one-step grandchild; five great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother John Janssen of Ackley, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law Hilda Janssen of Wellsburg, Iowa; and Emma Walters of Eldora, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Will; two sons Wendell Williams in infancy and Elmer Williams; one grandson Jeff Peters; one great-grandson Brandon Gelhaus; and one brother Claus ?Bud? Janssen.
