Janet Roberts

December 16, 1940 — September 27, 2015

Janet L. Roberts, 74, of Waterloo, Iowa died Sunday, September 27, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck, Iowa with Pastor Terry Plocher officiating. Burial will follow in the Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service on Friday at the church.

Janet Lorraine Dugan, daughter of Robert and Doris Johnson Dugan was born on December 16, 1940 in Oelwein, Iowa. She received her education in Oelwein and attended Oren High School. On October 8, 1955 she married Edward E. Roberts in Oren, Iowa. The couple later divorced. Janet worked for over 18 years at Regional Transit as a dispatcher, and for over 14 years for North East Iowa Food Bank as an intake worker until her retirement. Janet spent her life helping people in need. Her hobbies include gardening, cooking, ceramics and bowling. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan and loved her flowerbed, butterflies and angels. Janet especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson.

Survivors include her daughters, Debra Brewer of Evansdale, IA; Doris Authers of Sarasota, FL; her son, Travis Roberts of Waterloo, IA; grandchildren, Bridgett Gray, Shannon Brewer, Chloe Roberts, and Kilee Jensen; great grandson, Lucky Brewer; sisters, Kay Sawyer of Waterloo, IA; Edith Blakeslee and Carolyn (Charles) Klatt both of Reinbeck, IA; brother, Richard (Linda) Dugan of Independence, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her son, Edward Charles Roberts.
