Janet Lawler

October 22, 1912 — March 26, 2005

Janet M. Lawler, 92, of New Providence, Iowa, died from natural causes on Saturday, March 26, 2005 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 29th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora with Father James Dubert officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Eldora. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with prayer services beginning at 7:30 PM. Memorials may be directed to St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Quakerdale, or Iowa River Hospice.



Janet was born October 22, 1912, in Rockford, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Isabella (McElvaney) Young. She was educated in a country school near Rockford and after high school, she graduated from cosmetology school. On April 6, 1942 Janet was united in marriage to Everett A. Lawler at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Iowa Falls. She was a farm partner with her husband, a supportive Mother, doting grandmother and great grandmother and lived most of her adult life on the family farm near New Providence. Janet resided in Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center the last few years of her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora, the New Providence Birthday Club, the New Providence Music, Art and Drama Club, and bridge groups. Janet was a creative homemaker, extraordinary baker, newspaper devotee, avid bridge player and quiet observer of her life and times.



Surviving is a daughter, Leatrice (James) Virtel of St. Louis, Missouri; sons, Junior (Donna) Lawler of Eldora, Dean (Deborah) Lawler of Baltimore, Maryland; and Rex (Marilee) Lawler of New Providence; and twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, Everett on September 20, 1982; daughter, Audrey; sons, David and Marty; and brother, Charles R. Young.
