Iva A. Gast Rose, 79, of Eldora went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames while surrounded by her children. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Friday, January 31 at the Steamboat Rock Baptist Church with Pastor Harrison Lippert officiating. Burial will follow at the New Providence Cemetery, in New Providence, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday at the Steamboat Rock Baptist Church. Memorials may be directed to the Steamboat Rock Baptist Church Building Fund or the Asian School of Evangelism. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is in charge of the arrangements and messages of condolence may be posted at www.abelsfuneralhomes.com.
Iva was born September 12, 1934 in Marshalltown, Iowa, daughter of W. Ray and Lottie Martha (Plum) Campbell. She graduated from Owasa High School in 1953 and in May of 1955 was united in marriage to Duane A. Gast. Iva and Duane made their home near New Providence and Duane passed away on November 4, 1979. Iva was a homemaker but had also worked for Quakerdale for 11 years after Duane's death.
On December 19, 1987 Iva married Henry M. Rose and they made their home in Owasa for a year before moving to Eldora.
She was a member of Steamboat Rock Baptist Church where she enjoyed working with the Awana kids. She enjoyed providing care for people in their homes and had volunteered at area nursing homes. Iva's love for the Lord was apparent to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Henry; son Darryl Gast of New Providence and his wife Rosie; daughter, Tami Gast-Kohrell of Papillion, Nebraska and her husband Mike; step-children, Jim and Cathy Rose of Steamboat Rock, Don and Connie Rose of Owasa, and Gary and Becky Rose of Whitten; brother-in-law, Ivan Jaspers of Eldora; and by 29 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Duane; sister, Donna Jaspers; brother, Carlton Campbell; and sister-in-law, Loretta Campbell.
