Irene Reinert

June 16, 1923 — March 2, 2014

Irene June Reinert, age 90, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Eldora, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown, Iowa while under Care Initiatives Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, Iowa. Burial will be held privately by the family at New Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Irene was born on June 16, 1923 in Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of George and Minnie (Puttkammer) Snovel. She was raised in the Hubbard/New Providence area and graduated from Hubbard High School. She was married to Lawrence Reece and they welcome their children, Larry, Steve and Valerie into their family. Later she was united in marriage to Wallace Reinert on February 14, 1955 in Grundy Center; they welcomed their sons Kent and Kurt into their family. Irene lived in the New Providence area until 2002 when she moved to Eldora; there she lived until 2012 when she moved to Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown.

Irene was a homemaker and she worked several years at the Donnelly Corp. in Nevada, Iowa. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Irene enjoyed having coffee with her friends, bingo and puzzles. However, her true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her children Larry (Carlene) Reece of Summerville, SC, Steve Reece of Union, IA, Valerie (Larry) Lubbert of Marshalltown, IA, Kent (Tracy) Reinert of Union, IA and Kurt (Connie) Reinert of Marshalltown, IA; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Lola Reinert of Hubbard, IA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace; brother Chet Snovel; sister-in-law Eleanor Snovel and brother-in-law Walter Reinert.
