Ina Louise Grimmius, 76, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died March 15, 2006, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Regular Baptist Camp in Ventura, Iowa.
Louise was born April 7, 1929 in Howell County, near West Plains, Missouri, the daughter of Paul Wesley and Lula Marguerite (Dye) Calton. She attended grade school in the Homeland Community and two years in the West Plains, Missouri High School. She graduated from the Grundy High School in 1947. On June 24, 1947, she was united in marriage to Willis Ben Grimmius. They started their married life on a farm one and half a miles south of Grundy Center where they lived for 27 years before moving into town. They continued to farm the family farm as a part of the Wilina Farm Inc. Louise and Willis celebrated their Golden Anniversary in June of 1997 and have been married for almost 59 years. She worked at the J.C. Penney Store for 29 years and presently working at Calton Variety and Pharmacy. Louise was active in the Federated Women's Club, the Palermo Township Club, and Business Woman's Club. She had been a 4-H leader for five years and also a Girl Scout Leader for many years.
Louise's greatest joy was found in serving her Lord, and in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and sharing in their church and school activities. She was a Sunday School teacher most of her life working in the nursery, primary and jr. high classes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center where she had served as President of the Women's Mission Union, President of Berean Sunday School Class, and church clerk.
She is survived by her husband Willis; three children Eileen and her husband Ron Flater of Grundy Center, Iowa; Glenda and her husband Barry Alexia of Hermosa Beach, California; and Dale Grimmius and Marcia Newhall Roll of Grundy Center, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Andrea and her husband Dan Traeger, Tara and her husband Nick Liston, Michael and his wife Lindee Flater, Darren Flater and his fiancAsh Alaina Akkerman, Rubyana Grimmius, Joben Grimmius, Adrianne Alexia, Yale Alexia, and Ian Alexia; two great-grandchildren Brooke Liston and Ryan Traeger; two brothers Lyle and his wife Virginia Calton of Kirkwood, Missouri, and Lloyd and his wife Marge Calton of Grundy Center, Iowa; two sister-in-laws Mrs. Doyle (Marge) Calton of Abeline, Texas, and Shirley and her husband Gordon Blenderman of Des Moines, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Doyle and Eldon Calton; and infant twin sisters.
Grandma Lou loved children, her family and friends.
