Howard Bowers, 80, of Dike, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2007, at The Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa.
Howard Bowers was born January 1, 1927, near Whitten, Iowa, the son of Charles and Gertie (Allen) Bowers. On August 8, 1949, he was united in marriage to Gladys Eilers in Kansas City, MO. Howard drove semi and later farmed in Lincoln Township until 1990, when he retired and moved to Dike. Howard enjoyed his retirement by buying a semi and getting back on the road. In 2000, he was forced to retire again because of health reasons. Howard was a member of the Dike United Methodist Church for 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; a son, Keith Alberts of Mason City; a daughter, Kay and her husband Glen Nielsen of Dike; 3 granddaughters, Angie and her husband Tony Norton; Sara and her husband Todd Joslin and Maureen and her husband Justin Stockdale all of Dike; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Ward of New Mexico and Charlotte Hunt of Marshalltown and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kent Alberts, his parents; 2
brothers, Clarence Bowers of Dike and Kenny Bowers of Grundy Center, and a sister, Lena Hunt of Marshalltown.
