Hilda M. Janssen, 82, of Wellsburg, Iowa, died Saturday, February 18, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 20, 2006, at First Christian Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg, Iowa, with Pastor Thomas Vos officiating. Burial will follow at First Christian Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Wellsburg. Visitation will be Sunday, February 19, 2006, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg. A memorial fund has been established.
Hilda was born May 11, 1923, in Colfax Township, Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of John S. and Henrietta (Smit) Dirks. She graduated from Grundy Center High School. On June 16, 1944, Hilda was united in marriage to Claus "Bud" Janssen at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland, Iowa. Hilda and Claus were dairy farmers for many years in rural Wellsburg.
Hilda's husband Bud died on February 7, 1998.
Hilda was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg. She enjoyed being outside and taking care of her lawn and her garden on the farm.
She is survived by three sons William Janssen and his wife Billie of Wellsburg; Robert Janssen and his wife Cathy of Holland; Charles Janssen and his wife Susan of Wellsburg; one daughter Jean Anderson and her husband Bill of Cedar Falls, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law Jean Combs of Illinois; one sister-in-law Annabelle Dirks of Pasadena, California and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bud in 1998; one son Donald Janssen; one grandson Blake Janssen; one brother John Edward Dirks; three sisters Harriett L. Janssen and two sisters in infancy.
