Helen Weseman

June 23, 1924 — April 22, 2012

Helen M. Weseman, 87, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in Grundy Center, Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 25th, 11:00 A.M. at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow funeral services at Rosehill Cemetery in Grundy Center.Memorials may be directed to the family.

Helen was born on June 23, 1924 on a farm near Conrad, the daughter of Daniel Clement & Blanche (Clapsaddle) Bristley. She graduated from Conrad High School in 1942. She married George H. Weseman on December 23, 1945 in the Conrad Methodist Church. They welcomed daughters Shirlee and Pamela into their family. The couple farmed in Lincoln Township, north of Grundy Center for many years. Later, they operated an egg farm near Holland until they retired and moved to Grundy Center. George passed away on August 28, 2001.

She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, was very active in the Women's Association and the Women's Circle. Helen also taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed fishing. She especially enjoyed being with her family and taking care of her great-grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her daughters Shirlee (Richard) Ahlberg of Grundy Center and Pamela (David) Knox of Marshalltown; grandchildren Daniel
Brian Yordy of Marshalltown, Chad (Tina) Ahlberg of Holland and Jill (Kevin) Beenken of Grundy Center; great-grandchildren Miles & Connor Hamilton, Nolan Beenken, Tate & Reid Ahlberg and McKenna & Alyssa Yordy; 3 nieces, 1 nephew and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George; brothers Harold and Ralph Bristley and 2 nieces.
