Helen A. Shelton, 94, of Grundy Center, died from natural causes on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.
Helen was born April 5, 1912 in Grundy County, Iowa, daughter of John and Tena (Johannsen) Boege. She was educated in country school near Lincoln. Helen worked as a child care provider in her early years. On March 12, 1940 she was united in marriage to Leonard Hoelscher. He passed away in 1946. She married Charles Shelton On April 21, 1951 in Grundy Center. Helen enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She was a member of the Salem Church of Lincoln, the Living Branches, Helping Hands, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Morrison Museum.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews: Doris and her husband Everett Wrage of Bellvue, Nebraska, Charles and his wife Dee Davis of Shellsburg, Iowa, Keith and his wife Ardath Davis of Marengo, Iowa, Mary and her husband Robert Dorman of Prot Orange, Florida, Carol and her husband Dan Patterson of Amana, Iowa, and Jane and her husband Brent Wilson of Grundy Center, Iowa, and many great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Leonard Hoelscher, second husband Charles Shelton, a brother William Boege, a sister Lois Davis and a nephew Kenneth Davis.
