Hazel Sweet

Hazel Sweet, 92 of Dike, Iowa went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, October 27, 2011, at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, Iowa. Burial will follow Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. A memorial fund has been established.
Hazel was born to Jess and Dena (Penning) Sweet on March 19, 1919 in Mankato, Minnesota. She grew up in the Mankato area till the age of ten then her family moved to the Dike area. Hazel worked as a cook at Dinty's in Dike for many years.
Hazel loved the outdoors, watching the wildlife and especially working in her garden. Hazel was a wonderful aunt who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Hazel is survived by her sister Margaret Koch of Reinbeck; niece and nephews, Shirley Dufel of Hudson, Rick (Janet) Sweet of Manchester, Bob Koch of Reinbeck, Larry Sweet of Dike; many great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Edna Andorf, Jennie Sweet; brother, Henry Sweet; and nephew, Roger Sweet.
