Hazel was born February 3, 1916 in Hardin County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Foster and Anna (Willard) Foster. She attended the Putnam rural school in Eldora Township. Hazel was united in marriage to Frank Steinfeldt on February 7, 1934 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. To this union was born one daughter, Ruth. She and her husband, Frank farmed east of Eldora until retiring in 1969 to their new home in Eldora. Hazel enjoyed watching sports of her grandchildren, working with her flowers (especially her roses) and spending time with family and friends. Hazel was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and an active member of the LWML.
Left to mourn her loss is her daughter, Ruth and her husband Jerry Butler of Eldora; grandson Jeff Butler and wife Sheri and great-grandchildren, Tysen, Dane, and Beau of Eldora; granddaughter Kristin Smith and husband Jeff and great-grandchildren, Connor and Nathan of Grimes, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. In death, she has rejoined her parents, Charles and Anna, and step-father, William Bowman; her husband Frank on December 28, 1991; brother, Everett Foster; and sisters, Ruby Graig and Gertrude White. Let us give thanks to God for the life and memory of Hazel.
