Hazel Irene Brandt, 81, of Reinbeck, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care; while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Services and interment are private. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Hazel was born on June 19, 1934 in Traer, Iowa to her parents Hugo and Irene (Boles) Drews. She graduated from Traer High School. Hazel was united in marriage to Dale Brandt on June 30, 1958 in Kirksville, Missouri. They made Reinbeck their home and welcomed four children into their family. Hazel enjoyed sewing, baking, reading, bird watching and spending time with her family.
Hazel is survived by her children Terry Brandt of Reinbeck, Tracy Brandt of Reinbeck, Connie (David) Caughron of Cedar Falls and Carolyn (Glenn) Helmuth of Wasilla, Alaska; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and her sisters Marie Hess of Cedar Rapids and Barbara Long of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother Ester Drews; husband Dale; brother Robert Kucera and sisters Betty Blodgett and Darlene Walton.
