Harriett Jean Muller, 88, of Holland, passed away on Monday, April 9th at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. A visitation will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 from 4-6 PM at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in rural Holland at 10:30 AM with Reverend Rick Vollema officiating. Visitation will resume from the evening prior at 9:30 AM at the church. Burial will be held at 1 PM at the Holland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Harriett Jean Muller (Poppen) was born November 5, 1929 at the Grundy Center Hospital to her parents Adam and Hattie (Brower) Poppen. Harriett attended school in Grundy Center graduating from Grundy Center High School in 1948. Harriett went on to attend the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls graduating in 1950. Harriett taught school at Stout, Colfax #9, and the Holland school. Harriett was united in marriage to Elmer Muller on April 17, 1953 at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in rural Holland. Harriett and Elmer both lived on the farm until 1971 when they moved to Holland. Harriett served as the treasurer for the town of Holland for many years. Harriett enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, gardening, singing, and listening to music
Harriett is survived by her children Tony Muller of Holland and Jodi (Sean) Stotser of Atlanta, GA. Harriett was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Edna Hemmen, Mabel Freese, Grace Stahl, Anna Thorne, Alida Dreesman, Matilda Dieken
