Harold Henry Plaehn, 93, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Sunday, February 25, 2007 at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa. Private family burial will be in Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 27, 2007, from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., at French ? Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, where the family will be present to greet friends. A memorial fund has been established.
Harold Henry Plaehn was born August 20, 1913, near Lincoln, Iowa, the son of Henry and Emma (Thiessen) Plaehn. On June 30, 1940 he was married to Wanida Emma Vogt near Lincoln, Iowa. The couple farmed for many years around the Reinbeck area. After farming Harold drove truck for Paton Brothers Trucking. He later ran the sanitation route in Reinbeck.
He is survived by his three children: Don Plaehn of Elkhart, Iowa, Judy and her husband Bob Sealman of Grundy Center, Iowa, and Larry Plaehn of Reinbeck, Iowa; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Lois Wickliffe of Avon, Illinois, and Bernice Craig of Dike, Iowa; 3 brothers: Paul and his wife Darlene Plaehn of Reinbeck, Iowa, Kenny Plaehn of Reinbeck, Iowa, and Leonard and his wife Beverly Plaehn of Spring Valley, Minnesota. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Wanida, 2 brothers: Earl and Charles Plaehn; and 2 sisters: Beulah Hauschildt and Alta Arp.
