Grace Stahl, 99, of Grundy Center, Iowa died Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church with Pastor Robby Grames officiating. Burial will follow in the Colfax Center Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center.
Grace Muller, daughter of Klaas and Annie Eiklenborg Muller was born February 17, 1916 in Dike, Iowa. She received her education from Beaver #7 Country School in Dike, Iowa. On December 17, 1936, she married Alvin A. Stahl in Dike, Iowa. The couple made their home in rural Holland where the couple farmed. Her main vocation was as a homemaker. They moved into the town of Holland in 1963 and in 1999, into the Sunrise Apartments in Grundy Center. Grace had been residing at Grundy County Long Term Care for several years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and sewing. She also made many quilts for her family through the years. Grace will be remembered for her homemade bread and rolls in which everyone enjoyed. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her sons, Larry (Carolyn) Stahl and Curtis (Peggy) Stahl all of Holland; son-in-law, Virgil (Mary Lou) Heetland of Ackley; daughter-in-law, Margaret Stahl of Grundy Center; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; her brother, Wilbur (Joy) Muller of Grundy Center; sister-in-law, Kathryn Muller of Aplington; brother-in-law, Dick Betts of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Stahl; daughter, Darlene Heetland; son, Dennis Stahl; granddaughter, Amanda Stahl; brothers, Fred, Andrew and Merlyn Muller; and her sister, Annie Betts.
