Grace Pruin, 103, of Dike, Iowa, died Saturday, November 20, 2004, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck, Iowa, of natural causes. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Dike, Iowa, with Pastors Matt Conover and Harold Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Dike, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday, November 22, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Dike, Iowa, from

Grace was born at home near Stout, Iowa, on March 9, 1901, the daughter of Albert W. and Aletta (Theerman) Bulthuis. On October 28, 1924, Grace was united in marriage to Pete Pruin. In March 1937, the family moved to Dike. Grace?s husband Pete died on October 21, 1950. Grace worked as a housekeeper at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls for seventeen years, retiring in 1965. Grace continued to make Dike her home until December 2002, when she moved to Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. Grace lived all of her life in Butler and Grundy counties.
Grace was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dike, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She loved music and also enjoyed flowers.
She is survived by two sons Bert Pruin and his wife Adele of Holland, Iowa; Harry Pruin of Dike, Iowa; two daughters Inez McCarville and her husband Ed of Dike, Iowa; Mildred Goodell of Cedar Falls, Iowa; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and one sister Lyda Belthuis of Cedar Falls, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pete; one brother Ed Bulthuis; one sister Gertie Bouck; and one son-in-law Curtis Goodell.
