Grace Helen Newton, 88, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Sunday, April 03, 2005, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck, of natural causes. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, with Pastor David Nolte officiating. Burial will follow at Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. to service time on Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck or to Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck.

Helen was born November 20, 1916, in Reinbeck, Iowa, the daughter of George E. and Harriet (Shoemaker) Watson. She received her education in Reinbeck, and graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1934. Helen worked at a restaurant in Reinbeck for a number of years and then became employed at Western Auto in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Helen then worked for the City of Cedar Falls and then later for the Black Hawk County Park Board for a number of years. In 1997, Helen made Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck her home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Reinbeck. Helen loved flowers, music, and dancing.

She is survived by one daughter Dianne Homann and her husband Fritz of Davenport, Iowa; one sister Bernice Bell of Grundy Center, Iowa; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers Alton "Doc" Watson, Bert Watson, Evan "Mink" Watson, Elmer "Pug" Watson, and LeRoy "Snook" Watson; and three sisters Elma Schmitt, Blanche O'Brien, and Bertha Cottrell.
