Grace Huisman, 97, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Thursday, December 8, 2005, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital-Long Term Care Unit, of natural causes. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Monday, December 12, 2005, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, Iowa, with Pastor Kent Leydens officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday December 11, 2005 at the Engelkes ? Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established.
Grace was born January 24, 1908, in Pleasant Valley Township, Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Rixka (Rachel) ?Smidt? Raske. On December 1, 1945 she was united in marriage to William (Bill) Huisman at the Bethany Presbyterian Manse in Grundy Center. Grace farmed with her husband near Holland. They moved and farmed near Jesup in 1952. In 1969 the couple retired and moved to Grundy Center. Grace was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing.
Grace is survived by one sister: Vera and her husband Herman Lupkes of Grundy Center, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill in 1987; 4 brothers: Henry, Richard, John, and Albert Raske; 2 sisters: Lena Grimmius and Bena Bird.
