Gordon Raymond Eklund, 81, of Eldora, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday March 10, 2007, at the Creps - Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, Iowa, with the Rev. Corey Larson officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery in Eldora, Iowa. Visitation will be on Saturday March 10, 2007 from 9:00 A.M. until service time. A memorial fund is being established.
Gordon was born September 2, 1925, in Braham, Minnesota the son of Nels and Ellen (Peterson) Eklund. Gordon graduated from Braham High School in 1943. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army from 1946 - 1948. In 1950 he was united in marriage to Cora Mae Hall in Hastings, Minnesota. He purchased the Eldora Greenhouse in 1957 and operated it until retiring in 1993. Cora passed away in 1985 and Gordon married Betty M. Bean on July 9, 1988 in Des Moines, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife Betty of Eldora, Iowa; 3 sons: Tim and his wife Connie Eklund of Rush City, Minnesota, Dave and his wife Mary Eklund of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Wes and his wife Kathy Eklund of Elk River, Minnesota; a step-son: Kendall and his wife Susan Harris of Houston, Texas; 6 grandchildren: Sonja, Ingrid, Kristy, Josh, Clint, and Stacie; 2 step grandchildren; Catherine and Matthew; and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Cora Mae; 4 brothers: Cliff, Russ, Bert and Baby Roy; and a sister Helen Lindquist.
