Gloria Jane Abbas, 69, of Dike, Iowa, died on Monday, August 27, 2007 at her home, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice and her family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Gloria Abbas was born September 3, 1937, in rural Butler County the daughter of Pete and Mary (Holm) Doddema. She was raised in the Dike area where she attended school and graduated from Dike High School in 1955. On June 22, 1958 she was united in marriage to Robert Lee Toben in Clear Lake, South Dakota. Gloria married Dale Lee Abbas on October 5, 1979 in New Hartford, Iowa. Most of Gloria?s life was spent caring for her family and attending church at United Methodist church in New Hartford where she played the organ. Gloria was a member of Dike United Methodist Church. Most of all Gloria loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Karla (Mike) Murphy of Dike, Iowa; Denise (Kevin) Johnson of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Koleen (Dan) Schipper of Dike, Iowa ;2 sons, Dennis (Cathy) Toben of Charter Oak, Iowa; and Kevin (Jill) Toben of Parkersburg, Iowa; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild: four stepdaughters; Diana, Cindy, Shawna, Dalette and their families; 2 sisters: Marcia Bengen of Junction City, Oregon; Wanda Nielsen of Dike; 2 brothers: Floyd (Carolyn) Doddema of Des Moines, Iowa; Dale (Jane) Doddema Of Cedar Falls, Iowa and two very special family friends, Mike Meling and Patty Kruse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale Abbas;
infant brother,Ernest; brother, Paul; sisters: Violet Johnson,
Mary Lou Longseth,and the father of her children Robert Toben.
