Gladys Lawless

Gladys Ann Lawless, 82, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Monday, May 14, 2007 at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora with Father James Dubert and Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Eldora. Visitation is from 5 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with scriptural prayer services at 5 pm.

Gladys was born the ninth of ten children on February 1, 1925 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Henry and Rose (Weinberger) Mundt. After High School Gladys worked for three years in the Scranton area and at the same time was communicating via mail with her future husband, Dale Lawless, who was stationed with her brother, Hank in the Pacific during WWII. After the war, Dale went to Scranton to meet Gladys and after a brief courtship he returned to Eldora for a short time and then returned to Scranton and married Gladys on April 26, 1946. They returned to the Eldora area where they farmed as their livelihood. Gladys was a loving mother who took great joy in raising her children and in later years became focused on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, D.J. Lawless of Urbana, Debra Lawless of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Bill Lawless and his wife Deb of Eldora; Grandchildren, Josh Lawless and Mindi Lawless of Marion, Kate Fromme (Gary) and Adam LaGrange of Colorado Springs, Derek Lawless of Normal, Illinois and Brian Lawless of Cedar Rapids; great grandchildren, McKenzie, Danny and Tyler Fromme and Ayden LaGrange of Colorado Springs; sisters, Rose Talarico and Ida Manly of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Emily Boone of Bridgeport, Connecticut; and brother, Hank Mundt of Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale on January 18, 1998; grandson, Jason LaGrange; brothers, William and George Mundt; and sisters, Henrietta McDonald, Viola Hughes, and Leona Kaufman.
