Gertrude E. Ford Bailey Wood, 84, of Eldora, died on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the First Assembly of God in Eldora with Pastors Steve Neumeyer and Fred Rosenkrans officiating. Burial will follow in the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, October 7 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Gertrude was born May 1, 1927, in Lehigh, Iowa, daughter of Perry and Hazel (Farnam) Ford. She was raised in Lehigh moving to Laurens, Iowa in 1967 and then to Eldora in 1974. She was united in marriage to Leonard Bailey on December 20, 1946 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Leonard passed away on February, 24, 1992 and she was then married to Oscar Wood on February 16, 2002. Oscar died November 22, 2006.

She had been previously employed by Murphy's Custodial Home and the Hardin County Home. Gertrude was a member of the First Assembly of God in Eldora and enjoyed tending her flower gardens, cooking, and reading her Bible.

Surviving are her children, Roger Bailey and his wife, Glenda of Iowa Falls and Barbara Chicoine and her husband, Bob of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers, David Ford of Portsmouth, Ohio and Tom Ford of Iowa Falls; grandchildren, Rebecca Turner, Steven Sanders, Paul and Adam Bailey, and Rachel Arends; by 7 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands; an infant daughter; brothers, Theodore, Robert and Donald Ford; and sister, Martha Elliott.
