Gertrude E. Taber, 81 of Steamboat Rock died from natural causes on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Muse Norris Inpatient Unit of Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.
Gertrude was born January 10, 1928 in Eldora, Iowa, daughter of Fred and Martha (Jeske) Struck. She was raised in Eldora and graduated from Eldora High School. October 18, 1963 in Eldora she was united in marriage to Chester Taber. Chester passed away on October 4, 2006. Gertrude sold Avon for many years. She also worked in an Eldora nursing Home of many years. Gertrude was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and was a Red Hat Lady.
Survived by her children Bill and wife Peggy Prescott of Thompson, Iowa, Betty and husband Craig Newburn of Boise, Idaho, Jim and wife Rosalie Prescott of Klemme, Iowa and Don and wife Rita Prescott of Woodridge, Virginia; 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chester, a great grandson: Johnathan Prescott; and 3 brothers: Lawrence, Martin and Clarence Struck.
