Gertrude Dietrich

Gertrude Dietrich, 95, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck, Iowa. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, November 6, 2006 at the Amity Presbyterian Church of rural Reinbeck, IA. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck.
Gertrude F. Frey was born on August 17, 1911 in rural Dinsdale, IA, daughter of Cloyd D. and Bettie (Fleming) Frey. She attended country school at Blackhawk Township country school and in 1929, she graduated from Reinbeck High School. Gertrude received her elementary teacher?s certificate from the Iowa State Teacher?s College in Cedar Falls, IA. She taught for 2 years at Grant #4 rural school and then for 2 years at Popejoy, IA. On February 27, 1940, in Emmetsburg, IA, Gertrude was united in marriage to Rudolph Dietrich. The couple farmed in the Reinbeck and Dinsdale area.
Gertrude was a member of the Amity Presbyterian Church and the Rebekah Lodge in Reinbeck. She loved gardening and working with flowers especially her African Violets.
Surviving relatives include her two daughters, Marlys C. Redeen of Stockholm, SD, Kathryn L. Plummer (Dale C. Boike) of Cedar Falls, IA; three grandchildren, Julie R. Plummer, Todd R. (Julie) Plummer, Melanie B. (David) Larson; six great-grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua and Jacob McCraney, Austin and Ryan Plummer, Emelia Larson; two sisters, Laurene W. Knaack of Gladbrook, IA, B. Lucille (Robert) Thede of Reinbeck; sister-in-law, Marjorie M. Frey of Gladbrook.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rudolph in 1969; sister, Blanche C. Frey; brother, C. Kenneth Frey; great-granddaughter, Jessica M. McCraney; son-in-law, Roger Redeen.
