Geraldine was born on January 13, 1936 in Reinbeck, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd & Alma (Staker) Barfels. She was raised in Reinbeck with her family and attended school in Reinbeck through the 8th grade. After succumbing to Scarlet Fever as a young child, Geraldine lived with her parents for many years and after their passing, she went to live in a group home in Waterloo for many years. She worked part time for Adults Incorporated while living in Waterloo. She later made her home with Char & Beryl in Reinbeck. In 1998, Geraldine moved to the Parkview Manor where she lived until her death.

She enjoyed spending time with her brothers and her sister. She liked to go on shopping trips and out to lunch with her sister Char. Geraldine also enjoyed embroidery work in her younger years and liked watching numerous television shows. Although her family will miss her dearly, they are comforted to know she is finally at peace.

Geraldine is survived by her siblings Charlyne (Beryl) Manlick of Reinbeck, Darrell (Candy) Barfels of Jesup & Kenneth (Sandra) Barfels of Reinbeck; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sisters June & Judy Barfels; maternal & paternal grandparents.
