George W. Pothast, 94, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Monday, March 19, 2007, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center, Iowa. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Friday, March 23, 2007, at Reformed Church of Stout, with Pastor Neil Ooms of the Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg officiating. Burial will follow in the Stout Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 22, 2007, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, where the family will be present to greet friends. A memorial fund has been established.
George W. Pothast was born February 24, 1913, in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. The son of Rikus and Millie ?Miller? Pothast. George grew up in the Mason City and Fern area. George was united in marriage to Rose W. Bergman on February 8, 1957 in the Stout Reformed Church. George worked as a farmer and mechanic retiring in 1982. George was a member of the Stout Reformed Church for many years.
He is survived by his wife Rose of Grundy Center; a sister Etta Pabst of Grundy Center, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister: Reka Itzen.
