George P. Hauser, 81, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Sunday, January 14, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 18, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, Iowa, with Pastor Daniel C. Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Hauser Cemetery, rural Union, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, 2007, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, where the family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
George Parsons Hauser was born January 3, 1926, at Canton, South Dakota, the son of Wade R. and Eloise (Parsons) Hauser. He graduated from Union High School, Union, Iowa, in 1943. George served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from Iowa State College (ISU) in 1949. On June 26, 1960, George was united in marriage to Patricia Raber in Ackley, Iowa. George had farmed with his brother Wade in Guthrie County. He also worked for Farmers National Co. Farm Management Service; for the Morrison Coop Elevator; and also as a self-employed farmer. George especially enjoyed working with sheep. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center where he served as an Elder, sang in the choir and had been active in Mariners. George enjoyed delivering library newsletters and Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Hauser of Grundy Center; two sons Ross Hauser of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Lincoln Hauser of Boulder, Colorado; one daughter Ellen Betzer and her husband Scott of Panora, Iowa; five grandchildren-Amy Hauser, Samantha and Atticus Hauser, Joel and Jordan Betzer; five step-grandchildren-Brianna, Keely, Gareth, and Delaney Wells, Dreyson Robe; two brothers Wade Hauser II and his wife Elsy of McAllen, Texas; Duane Hauser and his wife Gloria of Goodyear, Arizona; one brother-in-law Larry Raber of Waterloo, Iowa; many cousins; many nieces and nephews; his church family and friends.
