George Alspach

George Wayne Alspach, 82, of Grundy Center, formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the Grundy Care Center. A celebration of life will be held at Abels Funeral & Cremation Service – Engelkes Chapel in Grundy Center on Saturday, January 20, 2024, where friends and family may visit from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project. George was born on February 20, 1941, to Joe and Ruth Alspach in Carroll, Iowa, and spent much of his life (30+ years) working for a traveling construction company building grain silos; he settled in Fort Dodge for the remainder of his years.

George is survived by his children Georgette “Jet” (Eric) Wenzel, Charlie Alspach, Tracy Grover, Doug (Cyndi) Alspach, Danny Alspach, and Nadine Mason; siblings Nancy (Darrel) Heckathorn, Lea (Lyle) Hoffman, Jeanette Heilman, John Alspach, Peter Alspach, Jerry (Jean) Alspach, and Carolyn Alspach; as well as many other family and friends.

George is preceded in death by his parents, sons Tony and Randy Alspach, stepson Yancy George Black, brothers Denny and Joseph “Bud” Alspach and Bill Dorman, and sister Marilyn Stone.
