Genevieve Veld

Genevieve Helen Veld, 81, of Eldora, Iowa, entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at her home in Eldora, while under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Eldora United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Genevieve was born on July 30, 1936 in Garden City, Iowa, to the late Gifford & Helen (Kearney) Larson. She was one of seven children. She was raised and attended school in Eldora, Iowa. Genevieve was married to Eldon Veld, Sr. on October 24, 1958. They enjoyed going to auctions together and being surrounded by family. She was also an avid collector of Campbell’s Soup memorabilia.

Genevieve ran an in-home child care center for many years and also worked at Eldora Day Care. She then worked for Infantseat Industries in Eldora and later worked and retired from Dodger Manufacturing.

She was a member of the Ruth Circle at the Eldora United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Genevieve also belonged to the American Home Club and was past president of the Eldora Business and Professional Women. More recently she belonged to the Ladies Red Hat Society.

Genevieve is survived by her children Kay (Randy) Davison of Eldora, IA, Eldon, Jr. (Connie) Veld of Union, IA and Trudie (Jim) Wood of Blue Earth, MN; her 5 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren; her sisters Ilo Luse & Bonnie Whalen and a sister-in-law Virginia Veld. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eldon, Sr.; granddaughter Megan Lindsay Davison; three sisters Lois Stewart, Eljean Harris & Cora Goodman; and brother Dr. Robert C. Larson.
