Geneva F. Emmert, 93 of Eldora, passed away on Thursday, March 31st, 2011 at the Valley View Nursing & Rehab Center while under Care Initiatives Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 5th at the United Methodist Church in Eldora with Pastor Richard Boatman officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 4th from 5 to 7 pm at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Burial will follow funeral services at the Eldora City Cemetery.
Geneva was born March 25, 1918 in Baywood, Virginia,, in Grayson County, to Otis and Viola (Hawks) Diamond. She was 13 years old when she came to Iowa with her parents. She married Dale L. Sapp on October 12, 1940. They lived in Grundy and Hardin Counties most of their lives. Geneva was employed for several years at the Eldora Memorial Hospital. Dale passed away on September 16, 1986. She later married Clarence H. Emmert on July 2, 1994 in Eldora. They made their home in Eldora. Clarence passed away on March 21, 2003.
She is survived by her son Ronald D. Sapp of Eldora; sister Juanita (Ray) Hovick of Story City, IA and brother Roy (Rada) Diamond of Conrad, IA; several nieces and nephews. Geneva is preceded in death by her parents; first husband Dale Sapp and second husband Clarence Emmert; daughter-in-law Charlene Sapp; brother Ray (Bert) Diamond and sister Ann (Earl) Eggabroad.
