Gene A. Peshia, 89, of Eldora died on July 22, 2014, at Valley View Nursing Home in Eldora, surrounded by family. Gene was born October 3, 1924, in Monticello, Minnesota, to Dale and Mildred (Cummings) Peshia.
Gene called Eldora home for almost 80 years. He worked as a printer-pressman for A.J. Schafer for 55 years before he retired. Gene was a loving man with a unique sense of humor. Gene took care of his parents until the time of their death so they could remain in their home. He enjoyed watching baseball, and touring the countryside, but his true love was newspapers. He did not miss a day of reading the newspaper, he would often help deliver newspapers, and enjoyed working side by side with his father as a pressman.
Gene is survived by his sister, Marjorie (William) Tintjer, sister-in-law, Alice Peshia; nieces Linda (Mark) Inks, and Jill (Jeff) Larson; great nieces and nephews, Bryce, Brooke, Lauren, Claire, and Alton.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
