Gale Gast

Gale Orville Gast, 85, of Dike, Iowa, died on Friday, July 13, 2007 at Allen Memorial Hospital, in Waterloo, Iowa. Gale O. Gast was born January 24, 1922, in North Dakota. On June 28, 1944 he was united in marriage to Lillian Marks at the Dike United Methodist Church Parsonage. Gale served his country during WWII obtaining the rank of Sgt., during his enlistment Gale received 9 metals, including the Purple Heart. Gale worked as a self-employed welder for many years. Gale was a firefighter for the Dike Fire Department for 14 years and a member of the American Legion Post #471 in Dike.

He is survived by his wife: Lillian; 2 daughters: Susan Bennett and Shelly Nelson and her husband Robert all of Lanesboro, MN; 1 son Steven of Dike; 7 grandchildren; a sister: Fern Boe of Billings Montana; a sister: Lois Shuff of Johnston, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son; and brothers: Gerald and John Jr.
