Frieda C. Oakland, 101, of Eldora, Iowa, formerly of Buckeye, Iowa died on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, January 3, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Buckeye with Pastor Bruce Zimmermann officiating. Burial will follow in the Sherman Cemetery near Buckeye. Visitation is from 3 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, January 2 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.
Frieda was born December 20, 1909 in rural Buckeye, daughter of Fred and Minnie (Fuhrman) Sielaff. She attended country school and on February 4, 1931 was married to Werner Daleske. Frieda and Werner farmed north-west of Eldora where they raised their three children, Richard, Darlene and Dorothy. Werner died April 11, 1954. Frieda married Martin Oakland of Zearing, Iowa on February 6, 1959 and they farmed by Buckeye until Martin's death on August 23, 1982.
She was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church being baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Buckeye, and then attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora for a time, later returning to the Buckeye Church where she was currently a member. She had also been involved with the Buckeye Church's Ladies Aid. When she was still able, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening.
She is survived by children, Richard Daleske and his wife Phyllis of McCallsburg, Iowa, Darlene Plum and her husband, Glen of Riverside, California, and Dorothy Freese and her husband, Barney of Eldora; brother, Ervin Sielaff of Huston, Texas; and by 8 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents, by 6 sisters and 3 brothers; and by a great-granddaughter.
