Frank E. Geiken, 97, of Wellsburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit while under Care Initiatives Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg, Iowa, with Pastor Tom Vos officiating. Burial will follow at Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery in Wellsburg. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg. Memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice in Frank's name.
Frank Edward was born November 11, 1916, in rural Wellsburg, Iowa, the son of John and Grace (Hippen) Geiken. Frank attended Wellsburg country schools. He grew up and lived in Grundy County his whole life. After school Frank began farming which enjoyed his entire life. On December 14, 1938 he was united in marriage to Clara Rewerts. Frank was a life time member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and golfing but most of all he loved to farm. Frank loved spending time with his neighbors, children and grandchildren.
Frank is survived by his son, Richard (Marie) Geiken of Wellsburg: daughter Carol White of Ankeny; 5 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clara; son, Robert in 1964 and sisters, Edith Murra, Dena Harms Bunger and Alice Luchtenburg
