Feliz ?Phil? S. Tovar, 75, of Grundy Center, died on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa.
Feliz was born in Waterloo on February 21, 1931 the son of Regino and Mildred (Erdmann) Tovar. Phil worked as a train car inspector for the Chicago Central and Pacific Railroad starting in November of 1947. Phil also ran Tovar?s Janitorial in Waterloo for many years. On December 31, 1977 he was united in marriage to Karen K. Meier in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Phil retired from the railroad in 1988. The couple lived in Waterloo until moving to Grundy Center in 1992. Phil volunteered some of his time to the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store in Waterloo.
Feliz is survived by his wife: Karen of Grundy Center; 6 sons: Feliz and wife Jeana Tovar of St. Louis, Missouri, Joshua Tovar of Grundy Center, Iowa, Ronnie and wife Angie Tovar of Kansas City, Missouri, Phillip Tovar of Waterloo, Iowa, David Tovar of Waterloo, Iowa, and Arty and wife Rose Tovar of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; 2 daughters Leah and husband Mark Patterson of Waterloo, Iowa, and Juanita Barber of Waterloo, Iowa; a step daughter Linda Hines of New Hartford, Iowa, and a step son: Terry Torrez of Rockford, Illinois, many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister: Rebecca Skelnik of Mesa, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Doreen Harper; 2 grandsons: Taylor and Cory Tovar; 3 brothers: Lyle Tovar, Francis (Kiko) Tovar, and David Henry Tovar.
