Everett Henry Lyman, 93, of New Providence, Iowa, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012, at Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, Iowa, with Pastor Justin Weber officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery in Eldora. A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Everett was born on June 7, 1919 in Hubbard, Iowa, the son of Frank and Bessie (Stuart) Lyman. He was raised in Eldora and New Providence. Everett was very proud of his service in the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he learned many skills including truck driving. Everett was united in marriage to Edna Taute on August 6, 1938 in Princeton, Missouri. After they were married, he began truck driving and farmed in the Eldora, Zearing and New Providence areas. Everett loved fishing and gardening, but his true joy in life came from spending time with his family and friends.
Everett is survived by his son Keith (Ellen) Lyman of Roland, Iowa; daughters, Barbara (Richard)Dodge of Mason City, Iowa and Angene "Cookie" Lyman of Hubbard, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brother Franklin Lyman and sister Phyllis Riekena.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Edna and 9 brothers and sisters.
