Etta Pabst, 98, of Marshall, Michigan, formerly of Grundy Center, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Maplewood Assisted Living in Marshall, Michigan. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Orchard Hill Church @ Lincoln Center in Grundy Center. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow funeral services at the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Grundy Center.
Etta was born on September 14, 1914 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Rikus & Minnie (Miller) Pothast. As a child, Etta and her family moved to Grundy Center where she attended school. On December 25, 1936. Etta was united in marriage to Donald Lee Pabst at the Lutheran Church in Holland. She farmed with her husband in the Allison, Nashua and Clarksville areas. In 1993, Etta made her home in Grundy Center.
She was a member of the Orchard Hill Church @ Lincoln Center in Grundy Center. Etta enjoyed gardening and flowers but what she truly loved most in life was her family. She loved her grandchildren dearly and was so proud of each and every one of them. The friends that she made in her lifetime were very dear to her.
Etta is survived by her son-in-law Jerald Fencl of Lufkin, TX; 3 grandchildren Donetta (John) Frey of Marshall, MI, Deborah (Gary) Fencl-South of Tulsa, OK and Duane (Wendy) Fencl of Oklahoma City, Ok; 3 great grandchildren Clayton Lambert, Traver (Mary) Fencl & Raven Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald on Dec. 30, 1981; daughter Donna Mae Fencl; granddaughter Denise Rae Fencl siblings George Pothast & Reka Itzen.
