Etta M. Hansen, 91, of Boone, Iowa formerly of Eldora, Iowa died on Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Westhaven Community in Boone. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Friday, December 16, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Memorial Gardens in Eldora. Visitation is from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, December 15 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora or Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone.
Etta Marie Hoing was born September 19, 1920 on the family farm near Green Mountain, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Estella (Hinman) Hoing. She graduated from Alden High School in 1938. On May 28, 1954, Etta was united in marriage to LaMoyen P. Hansen at Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran Church in Coulter, Iowa. To this union were born Stanley, Gary and Clara. Etta and LaMoyen farmed and raised their family in the Sheffield / Rockwell area until moving to Eldora in 1970 where they also farmed until retiring in 1988. LaMoyen passed away on April 4, 1999. Etta later moved to Boone in 2001.
She was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora and involved in Ladies Aid. Later after moving to Boone, Etta transferred membership to Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing croquet, scrabble and cards with family and friends and had her name engraved on the family croquet trophy many times. She was very gracious to all who came to visit and no one left her house hungry!
She is survived by her children, Stanley and Fawn Hansen of Pierce City, Missouri and their children: Douglas, Jerrad, and Katelyn; Gary and Janis Hansen of Boone and their children: Seth and Scott; Clara Morrise of Boone and her children: Kyle, Matthew, and Ashley. Jerrad and his wife, Brennah, also blessed Etta with two great - grandchildren, Tyrel and Aubrey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Estella; her husband, LaMoyen; and sisters: Ruby Dunham, Ruth McCrary, Esther Steward and Maymie Lynch, and by brothers: Clyde, Carl, Walter, Albert, Leo, Francis, Lawrence, Glen and John Hoing.
